1. Know Your Limits

We've all got that one friend who thinks they're a drinking legend... until they’re not. Don’t be that friend. Know your limits and stick to them. It’s not about keeping up with or out-drinking everyone else; it’s about enjoying yourself while looking out for your future self. Always consider your age, body weight and health problems that might suggest lower limits.

2. Pace Yourself

Slow down and spread out your drinks. Sip, and don’t chug. Dance, play games, and chat between drinks. Keeping the pace steady means you’ll enjoy the whole day and not just the first hour.

3. Stay Hydrated

Alcohol and sunshine can be a rough combo. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Try alternating between drinks and water. It keeps you hydrated and helps avoid a dreadful hangover.

4. Eat Before and While You Drink

Eating isn’t cheating – it’s smart! Have a good meal before you start drinking and snack throughout the day. This helps your body process the alcohol and keeps you feeling good. Plus, who doesn’t love a good Canada Day BBQ?

5. Plan Your Ride Home

After enjoying some drinks, driving shouldn’t be an option. Make sure you have a safe way to get home – whether it’s a designated driver, public transit, or a rideshare app. Safety comes first!

6. Buddy System

Look out for each other. Keep an eye on your friends and make sure everyone’s having fun and staying safe. If someone’s had too much, help them out. We’re all in this together!

7. Know Your Surroundings

If you’re at a big party or event, take a moment to familiarize yourself with the area. Know where the exits, bathrooms, and water stations are. If you need a break, it’s good to know where you can chill out safely.

8. Try Some Mocktails

Want to join in without the alcohol? Mocktails are your best friend. They’re tasty, fun, and perfect for keeping you in the party spirit without the alcohol. Plus, they make for great Instagram pics!

9. Keep an Eye on Your Drink

Don’t let your drink out of sight. If you put it down, get a new one!

10. Respect Everyone’s Choices

Not everyone drinks, and that’s more than okay. Respect everyone’s decisions and make sure everyone feels included and comfortable!

Have a safe and memorable Canada Day!
