Physical Wellness: Getting enough sleep, eating balanced meals, and staying active can make a huge difference in your energy levels and overall well-being. You can do this by:

  1. Getting enough hours of sleep each night (varies by individual)

  1. Incorporate regular exercise/movement into your day – like walking to classes or participating in a workout class at the ARC

  1. Choose nutritious snacks to fuel your body and mind

  1. Stay hydrated

Mental Health: Managing stress is crucial during busy times. There are many ways to manage stress throughout the semester such as:

  1. Incorporate mindfulness, deep breathing, or short breaks into your routine

  1. If you ever feel overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to reach out for support. Campus resources like counseling services, Peer Wellness Coaches, Peer Health Educators, and Peer Wellness Navigators are here to help you.

Substance Use Awareness: Making informed decisions about substance use is important. Remember that harm reduction strategies can help you stay safe. Whether you intend to consume a lot, a little, or none, Student Wellness Services offers resources and guidance to support informed decision making for safe substance use choices.

Building Social Connections: University life is not just about academics. Building connections is essential for your well-being. Engage in campus activities, join clubs, or simply spend time with friends to strengthen your support network. Visit the Tricolour Open House (September 5 in the ARC), Sidewalk Sale (September 7 on University Ave), and other campus outreach events to stay connected on campus.

Prioritizing your health and wellness will set you up for success both academically and personally. Remember, resources are available so don’t hesitate to use them. Let’s make this year a great one!
