Start Early & Declutter
Don’t wait until the last minute! Go through your belongings and sort items into keep, donate, recycle, and toss piles. The less you have to pack, the easier your move will be!
Use What You Have
Instead of buying new packing supplies, use what’s already around you! Suitcases & backpacks for heavy items. Laundry baskets for miscellaneous belongings. Clothing & towels to wrap fragile items.
Find Storage Solutions
If you're leaving for the summer and need to store items, look into:
Local storage units—Just web search "Kingston storage units" and book early for the best rates!
Share a unit with friends to save money
Contact your landlord t0 see if they can help accommodate a smoother moving process that adheres to your lease agreement
Donate Unused Items
Give back before you go! Instead of tossing food, clothes, or dorm supplies, donate them to students in need.
Drop off non-perishable food items at the Health Promotion Hub to support student food banks.
Clothing & household items can go to local charities, thrift stores, or campus donation drives.
Double-Check Your Lease & Move-Out Checklist
Avoid extra fees! Make sure to:
Clean your space before handing in keys
Take photos of your room for reference
Cancel utilities & change your address
Moving out doesn’t have to be stressful—just take it one step at a time!
