Moroccan Lentil Soup

A recipe for healthy moroccan lentil soup that can be pre-made and packaged in a jar. The following recipe yields 3 cups.

Recipe adapted from


  • 1 3/4 cup red lentils

  • 1/4 cup dried onion flakes

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp coriander

  • 1 tsp turmeric

  • 1/2 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp dried parsley

  • 1/2 tsp ground pepper

  • 1 tsp sea salt

  • 1 bay leaves


  1. In a large pot, add the mason jar contents and 7 cups of water.

  2. Bring mixture to a boil then let simmer with the top on for 20 minutes.

  3. Remove lid and allow the mixture to simmer for about 10-15 minutes more. During this time, the lentils should become tender. Note* Some jars have regular lentils instead of red lentils. Please allow for some additional time for these lentils.

  4. Feel free to add chopped kale, chard or other greens in last 5 minutes of cooking for a veggie boost.

  5. Spice up the dish with your choice of toppings, and enjoy!
